Former GA Congressional Candidate Kellie Collins Charged With Murder
Kellie Lynn Collins was a Congressional candidate for Georgia's 10 District. She reportedly dropped out of the race for personal reasons not disclosed. Formerly interviewed by The Sparx Tribune, Collins is now being detained on charges of murder and grand larceny...
According to The Augusta Chronicle, Collins turned herself in to authorities on [August 7th], and is currently facing charges of homicide and grand larceny. Collins is alleged to have also stolen a blue Subaru Legacy with licence plate MMJ804. The victim, one Curt Cain, 41, is listed as her campaign treasurer by FEC reports. His body was located at his place of residence.
It is unclear what prompted the murder, and while the victim's status as "campaign treasurer" doesn't make this sound any less disconcerting, any presumed financial squabble would have been over less than the $425 listed as "Cash in hand" by the campaign after spending by The Center For Responsive Politics, which is doubtful unless Collins ran into emergency or mischief. It is less likely therefore that the intent was campaign money, and more likely that it has something to do with the fact that Curt Cain had just a couple of weeks prior changed his beneficiary recipient to Collins, as reported by The Augusta Chronicle.
Profiles In Tacky Journalism: "Heavy.Com"
The website "heavy.com", a content farm doing its best impersonation of journalism, quoted The Sparx Tribune's original article on Collins from 2017, and, while most of the information was accurate, Jessica McBride, who authored the piece, wrongfully attributed the information to The Sparx Tribune itself, while quoting a portion of the aforementioned articled subtitled "...In Her Own Words", claiming that The Sparx Tribune "reported" on Collin's past, when in fact, the entire portion entitled "In Her Own Words" was just that, and was in response to a request for the same by The Sparx Tribune.
