The 2020 Presidential Election Is Taking Shape
The field of potential presidential candidates continues to widen as an expanding list of Democrats are pushed to the forefront of American political thought from establishmentarian outlets seeking to set the stage for electoral discourse heading into the 2020 primary season. Corporate tools, talking heads, and television celebrities are wooing the manufactured discourse of the mainstream media, with many theorizing of a DNC Primary with as many as 15 candidates...
To pay any regard for the situation that led America to its current boiling point is to be flabbergasted that one of the first names heard in the corporate cacophony of neoliberal stooges is Joe Biden, VP to the administration that bailed out Wall St's largest institutions, bailed out the largest sectors of the automotive industry, and bailed on Main St., Indigenous people, and the environment. Names such as Cory Booker, who came under fire from progressives last year for voting against a measure which would allow prescription drugs to be imported from Canada where they are cheaper, enabling a negotiation of our own inflated costs, was taking corporate donations from Big Pharma. Kamala Harris, who has her own history of standing against the common man and progressive values, is seen by many to be a front-runner for the nomination. Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook (Net worth- $53 Billion) could be hinting at a possible bid for Presidency, but would likely be held back by scandals relating to his social media platform purchasing and selling user's data to the highest bidder. 2 other wealthy celebrities, Oprah Winfrey and Dwayne Johnson, are also being tossed into the discourse. "Oprah", as she is known, has a net worth of $3 Billion according to Business Insider. Nothing exclaims the sentiments of devotion to the common man like nominating a Billionaire to represent your party.
The political situation is no less dismal on the ideological right, where little interest has been expressed in challenging President Trump in a GOP primary, with the possible exception of Ohio Governor and 2016 Presidential candidate John Kasich (R). Kasich, while he has voiced support for the LGBT community and expanded Medicare in his state, would be searching to gain traction for his presidential bid amid Joe Biden Democrats in a GOP caucus. He has nonetheless voiced interest, via several comments, in a second campaign for the White House.
Independents and third party hopefuls are scarce, but with much time remaining to announce a bid. Jesse Ventura, host at "RT America" and former Governor of Minnesota, has expressed interest in a bid for the White House, and could possibly run as a member of the Green Party.
