H.A. Goodman Challenges Mike Figueredo Of "The Humanist Report" To Debate
In a YouTube video published on Jan. 10th, H.A. Goodman, former supporter of Bernie Sanders who is now a vocal supporter of President Trump, challenged Mike Figueredo of "The Humanist Report" to a debate following Figueredo's comments regarding Goodman's reporting.
I reached out to Goodman for comment on the matter, which has not yet received a response, albeit The Humanist Report did respond, via Twitter. They stated, with regard to the likelihood of such a debate happening; "Probably not. I don't think it would be productive because he's not making videos out of passion, it's a grift. He was progressive until he found it more convenient to go full MAGA. Can't have a constructive conversation with someone like that."
In Goodman's video, he claimed that Figueredo engaged in name-calling, and attempted to rebut the claim that he was a "sellout", and referred to the hypocrisy of many on the "left" who are against the fossil fuel industry, but supported Barack Obama, who "presided over the... expansion of the fossil fuel industry", or who refer to Donald Trump as racist, but voted for someone who in years past "...referred to black youth as super-predators". While Goodman has been the subject of much vitriol for his recent vocal support for President Trump, the debate, should it ever materialize, could prove to be fruitful dialogue. He explained his reasoning behind support for Trump in comments for a previous article in The Sparx Tribune, stating his belief that Trump's policies are "less hawkish" than the DNC's, and has agreed-and continues to agree-with progressives on issues where the "actual left" and the "actual right" tend to have such agreement, such as policies pertaining to war, military intervention/regime change, NAFTA/The TPP, and corruption. A debate between well-intentioned parties from these ideological categories not only should happen, but must happen.
